Cambridge-based start-up company TouchSight was crowned the winner, scooping a £5,000 prize.
The vision mitt fits to the back of the user's hand and enables them to sense their surroundings using ultrasonic sensors and vibration-feedback gizmos.
TouchSight said the product will retail at around £90 - and is cheaper than a guide dog and a more subtle alternative to carrying a white stick, which can create social stigma.
