Towergate opts for converged network policy

... which leaves its old system for dust

Insurance intermediary Towergate has awarded a £1m, three-year contract to consultancy CCT for an Avaya converged IP voice and data network.

The network will support more than 100 offices housing more than 3,500 staff, built up over a period of acquisition for the company, creating a group of 130 insurance-service providers across the country.

The implementation allows Towergate to manage a distributed voice and data network centrally over one architecture. It will also allow the group to route calls to available agents across the subsidiaries. If one office is unavailable to a customer, it will be routed to available agents elsewhere in the business, along with that customer's data.

The converged voice and data system also allows Towergate to introduce new products into its portfolio more quickly than its existing IT systems are capable of supporting.

Towergate group operations director Max Curruthers said in a statement: "Delivering exceptional service to customers and brokers has been critical to driving growth in a hyper-competitive market. A single business communications platform will make it easier to roll out services faster, as well as integrate new acquisitions more quickly at a lower cost."

Towergate continues to acquire businesses at a rate of around two per year.
