The National Gallery in London has been using imaging technology from HP in its research on world famous art and more recently to boost the commercial side of the business.
silicon.com went along to the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square to have a look at work behind the scenes as well as what tech visitors can expect to see.
This shows two paintings believed to have been commissioned at the same time as Leonardo Da Vinci's Virgin of the Rocks but which researchers think were painted by other artists.

Technology at the National Gallery
I remember visiting the National Gallery in 1992 to investigate their new 'State of the Art' (sic) Hypertext based system they had just installed for my MSc dissertation on Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Hypertext Systems.
Although this is good, I would have though they would be more advanced by now - 16 years later.
