Art Start makes it easier for non-experts by providing selections of the top 30 artists or highlight paintings as shown on this menu.

The idea is to introduce people to the gallery's collection and help them discover art that they're interested in.

    Technology at the National Gallery

    I remember visiting the National Gallery in 1992 to investigate their new 'State of the Art' (sic) Hypertext based system they had just installed for my MSc dissertation on Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Hypertext Systems.

    Although this is good, I would have though they would be more advanced by now - 16 years later.
