ITV Worldwide, the broadcaster's distribution arm, has appointed Jason Binks as vice president of digital and new media.
Binks's role will be to develop the company's digital business, working across all aspects of digital rights management, including download-to-own, download-to-rent and video-on-demand.
However as spokeswoman from the company told silicon.com his immediate task will focus around technology relationships with third party media companies around the world, supporting the television and home entertainment sales teams within ITV Worldwide.
Binks will report to the company's director of global content publishing Steve Gallant.
In a statement, Gallant said: "There is so much untapped potential within the impressive ITV Worldwide portfolio of programming and brands, I know there are significant opportunities that we can take advantage of both domestically and internationally."
Binks comes from global digital media technology provider ROO Media.
