Logistics company Davies Turner has raised productivity by 20 per cent following the implementation of a warehouse management system.

The company operates air freight, shipping and road haulage services across Asia, Australasia, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and North America with an annual turnover of £114m.

The warehouse system supplied by RedPrairie is being used by the company - which has contracts with footwear company Clarkes, hardware store JML, fashion designer Paul Smith, footwear manufacturer UGG and lubricant manufacturer WD40 - to streamline logistics processes at seven distribution centres.

The suite also includes billing software that sends out invoices and reports to multiple customers.

Alongside gains in throughput, the system allows the company to gear up services for new customers more quickly, with customer data able to be loaded onto the distribution network in a day.

As a result of the implementation, the company has been able to standardise warehousing processes across its sites.
