UBS has appointed a new CTO, who will take over the bank's technology strategy later this year.

Peter Sany, who will take up the position of chief technology officer and head of information technology infrastructure from 1 April, comes to UBS from Deutsche Telekom, where he was group CIO.

As well as heading up Deutsche Telekom's IT, Sany has previously worked at IBM and Novartis, as the company's corporate and pharma division CIO.

Sany will take over the CTO job from Scott Abbey, who has been with the bank for five years and generated "significant cost savings" during his tenure, UBS said.
