Take-away food retailer Greggs has completed the consolidation of 10 financials systems into one application.

The app, supplied by Coda, will support its 1,400 stores across the UK.

Greggs' implementation of a purchase order system went live in December 2008 with the rest of the financials processes coming on line this month.

Greggs finance systems manager Lee Massingham told silicon.com the retailer has been undergoing a back-end systems modernisation programme after a period of acquisition, when it bought multiple legacy financials applications.

"The migration means we can change our systems much more quickly and control over our accounts is much better," he said.

The retailer has moved from a quarterly reporting cycle to accounts reports every month. All invoice matches are done within the Coda system, which integrates with the retailer's inventory and Epos applications.

"The new infrastructure has allowed us to introduce a purchase order process which gives us better visibility of costs and allows us to focus better on the retail business," he added.

Massingham told silicon.com he is interested in integrating a purchasing module in the future, although the rest of 2009 will be set aside for bedding down the current system.

The project cost in the region of £600,000.
