Carphone Warehouse customers will soon be able to pick up a new phone that comes with added mobile banking.

The retailer has struck a deal with Monitise to sell a number of handsets with the company's mobile banking application pre-installed, although which devices will feature the service have yet to be determined.

Customers of banks including First Direct, HSBC, Lloyds TSB and NatWest will be able to use the service to check their balance, get mini-statements and transfer money between accounts.

According to Monitise, one million UK consumers are already using mobile banking. Analysts predict there could be more than 100 million people using financial services on their phones by 2014.
