How a Hollywood blockbuster is created

By Nick Heath, 31 March 2009 16:02

Monsters vs Aliens is being released in stereoscopic 3D.

Stereoscopic films require rendering separate left and right eye images, which meant that rendering requirements for the film doubled those of its non-stereo predecessors.

The increased push of pixels to the render farm also doubled the demands placed on the studio's HP workstations.

Here is the monster "B.O.B" as a wireframe model and as a finished render.
