Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group has hired a new CIO.

The insurance and risk management company announced today that Ian Cohen will take up the head of IT role with immediate effect.

Cohen, who has featured on silicon.com's CIO50 list, was previously CIO at Associated Newspapers, the publishers of The Daily Mail, The Evening Standard and Metro.

Before joining Associated Newspapers in 2005 Cohen was group IT director at the Financial Times where he led the consolidation of the group's online publications and the relaunch of FT.com as a subscription service.

The Jardine Lloyd Thompson move marks a return to the financial services industry for Cohen, who spent five years at Lloyds TSB earlier in his career.
