Phishers set their sights on corporate accounts

News in brief: Beware the money mules and malware

NEWS

Fraudsters have attempted to steal an estimated $100m from corporate bank accounts using malware and money mules, the FBI said yesterday.

The FBI is seeing several new victim complaints and cases every week, according to an Internet Crime Complaint Center report.

The scammer will typically target the people who handle financial transactions in a company, sending them emails containing a link that, when clicked on, causes key-logging malware to be installed on their computer.
