NEWS The Police Information Technology Organisation (Pito) has signed a four-year deal with QinetiQ to manage an updated national police website.
The website, www.police.uk, which has been running for three years, publishes information on appeals for information, advisory notices, and links to other police force sites.
Pito was unwilling to give the value of the deal. A spokeswoman for the organisation said that commercial confidentiality prevented the disclosure of the figure.
According to Pito, the website automatically prioritises information from the public.
A government report earlier this year said Pito is to be replaced with a central agency responsible for national projects and management of the £750m annual local IT spend by the UK's 43 police forces.
