How do we know that the Iris scan will not damage our eyes?
Answer-- The government says it will not.
BUT we were told that thalidomide was safe.

The iris scan part seems okay, but it is badly let down by the height assessment system. At LHR T1 on 28 March the computer crashed and took five minutes to re-boot. Again at LHR T1, on 05 April the machine wanted me to look in the mirror at my chest height. On both occassions this was significantly slower than fellow travellers going through the 'normal' route. Also what is significant was that nobody else was trying to use the iris system.
