Video: Police helmet-cam in action

See how video is helping the fight against crime

silicon.com has obtained video footage from police involved in an ongoing trial of 'helmet cameras' to catch criminals in the act.

The footage highlights how the police have used cameras attached to the side of their helmets to video scenes including pub brawls and an offender resisting arrest.

Arrests for violent crime are up by 85 per cent in the Plymouth area where the police are trialling the 'helmet-cams'.

Around 250 officers in Plymouth are wearing the cameras as part of a six month trial - scheduled to finish in March 2007 - to assess the technology and what other uses the camera could have in the wider policing world.
