The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a £45m contract extension with BAE Systems Insyte to extend the supply of the Falcon communications system.
Falcon is a telecommunications system used by the Armed Forces to transmit voice and data traffic on the battlefield, and BAE Systems Insyte will provide the equipment and initial support for an extension of Falcon to the RAF.

The RAF will now be able to use the addition to the system - called Increment C - to communicate between bases and to host the command and control data distribution for logistics and aircraft mission and planning systems.
The original contract for the £200m comms network was agreed in 2006 and the network was expanded this summer to provide video cameras, VoIP phones and multiple computers.
Falcon works with other MoD comms systems such as Skynet 5 and is compatible with Nato systems.
