The council will also work with Serco to offer a shared service to other councils, agencies and partners across the region.

WSCC's existing team of service engineers will be retrained and integrated with Serco staff for the new contract.

WSCC CIO Paul Brocklehurst said in a statement: "Serco will assist us in our goals of improving customer service, reskilling our ITS engineers, while also reducing costs. It offers the ideal combination of providing proven solutions, tailored to our specific business needs."
