Remember the massive data loss last year that saw the records of more than 84,000 prisoners go missing when a USB stick was lost by a Home Office contractor?

More details on the loss have emerged this week, with the Home Office's resource accounts revealing the amount of data lost could be much larger than first thought.

The State wants to keep all this information about us, but realistically we should be able to say to them:

"I don't trust you to look after my data, you're not having it because you keep messing up."

And that's just in regard to their incompetence, let alone the whole privacy issue.
