The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has completed phase two of its implementation of a new managed service, Oracle Financials system.
The managed service, provided by McKesson, replaces the CPS's previous outdated financial system and, by automating manual business processes, will speed up invoicing and other financial processes.
CPS systems accountant Jo Hall said that while many IT projects miss their implementation deadlines, the "CPS has bucked this trend, going live on time and coming in on budget".
Hall said the system is helping the CPS spot future areas for efficiency savings, such as e-procurement.
The service has 300 users across 42 different areas.
Phase one of the project was a direct replacement of the functionality of the old system, such as accounts payable, purchasing and general ledger, and started in September 2004. Phase two, including cash management, accounts receivable and fixed assets, went live in stages between June and December last year.
