Another feather in the cap for group buying body?
Published: 8 December 2006 16:25 GMT
The government's latest deal with IT suppliers will allow public sector bodies to buy hardware with a discount of up to 49 per cent.
OGCbuying.solutions - a government e-procurement arm - is running a scheme which promises average savings of over 25 per cent to public sector organisations until the end of March 2007.

The savings - under the "Winter Great Deals" offer - cover desktops, laptops and displays. Desktop prices start at £268.
Phil Morris, CEO of sourcing consultancy Morgan Chambers, told silicon.com: "This is outwardly a great deal but anything that gets to a discount of 49 per cent has a questionable start point, with suppliers using market RRP or similar to then work down from."
It begs the question of what support is included in the supply of equipment - if it's cheap but broken then it's not cheap at all, Morris added.
The current deal follows on from the "Autumn Great Deals" offer from OGCbuying.solutions, which offered savings of up to 45 per cent earlier in the year.
