Training "whenever and wherever it is required"

The NHS has launched a new e-learning programme to help staff become more confident with software they use day-to-day.
The training programme, developed with Microsoft, teaches NHS staff how to get to grips with Microsoft's Office 2003 as well as the software company's collaborative SharePoint service and InfoPath data gathering program.
The tutoring will be free for anyone with an NHS email address and can be accessed from any computer connected to the internet. It's designed for all levels of IT experience (although users are recommended to be of European Computer Driving Licence standard) and allows staff to work at their own pace.
The e-learning exercises take between five and 10 minutes to complete and full lessons last from 15 minutes to an hour. The system also keeps tabs on users' progress.

An NHS Connecting for Health spokeswoman said a strength of the e-learning programme is that the NHS can now provide training to everyone who needs it "whenever and wherever it is required".
