Camden, Islington unveil speedy VPN
Published: 21 June 2007 16:05 GMT
The London Boroughs of Camden and Islington have rolled out a new network to connect 14 healthcare sites and give staff remote access to NHS applications.
The launch of a new Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN) gives 2,000 health workers in the boroughs access to all national and local NHS applications from both remote and home offices.
The IT service provider for the areas, Camden and Islington ICT Shared Services, has been working on the project with NTL: Telewest Business for three years.
The network provides connectivity to community hospitals, GP practices and healthcare clinics in the North London area.
