Why? Steering innovation at the tech giant

Agree with panel rating?

Too High Too Low

Otellini has been president and CEO since May 2005 but is an Intel veteran with more than 30 years under his belt. He has successfully ensured that the spirit of innovation is alive and well at the chip giant.

The panel singled him out as the man who oversaw the development and successful launch of the company's innovative and much-lauded Core 2 Duo microprocessor, which was released this year.

Another interesting innovation from the company in the past year is its work with Motion Computing to develop a tablet PC for clinicians. Launched back in February, the mobile clinical assistant could revolutionise patient care.

The battle for supremacy in the microprocessor market between Intel and arch rival AMD, which launched its quad-core chip in September, will continue. But with Otellini at the helm, Intel should be sitting pretty.
