Aaron Seigo earns a spot on the Agenda Setters list for his work on what the panel called the "exciting" open source KDE project.

KDE is a desktop environment for Unix-based systems that is praised for usability and flexibility - it is both free of charge and the source code is freely available.

The KDE project also offers an application development framework to encourage programmers to create apps for the platform, and many applications already available to use include an in-progress office suite.

The panel commended the project for the backbone it has provided for other popular applications. The application framework WebKit that grew out of the KDE project's KHTML HTML layout engine, for instance, is the basis of Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome web browsers as well as several mobile browsers.

Seigo - a developer for the project, as well a frequent speaker and community leader who spreads KDE's message to the rest of the world - is one to watch in this arena.
