The Huffington Post has become an internet phenomenon since it was launched in May 2005.

The news and commentary site, which covers everything from politics to entertainment, has become one of the most frequently linked-to and cited media brands on the internet. It deftly combines blogs from the most notable people in their fields with more traditional reported articles.

Its founder Arianna Huffington caught the eye of the Agenda Setters panel for redefining the rules of journalism and showing that blogs can take on established broadcast and print media.

An Agenda Setters judge praised Huffington for "proving that a blog can not only be as good as old media, it can work better and get more scoops".

Originally from Greece, Huffington is also a nationally syndicated columnist, author of 12 books and a public radio show host.

In the world of online media, she stands apart from the amateurs and wannabes - showing the rest how it can be done.
