Jeff Bezos, a perennial Agenda Setters who's made the list eight times, launched Amazon.com in 1994 and has remained at its helm for nearly 15 years - an eternity in internet time.

During his tenure he has created arguably the most successful online retail brand in the world.

Key to Amazon is the ever-expanding range of goods - from books and toys to music downloads and storage space - and the ease with which customers can navigate the site.

It's for this success, as well as for being willing and able to adapt his business to take advantage of the latest technologies and trends that earns him an Agenda Setters spot.

The panel noted the particular success of the Kindle electronic book reader, which launched in November 2007 and immediately sold out.

As one panellist put it: "[Bezos is] innovating beyond just sales of more products - ideas such as the Kindle can change the very nature of book distribution and consumption."
