Intel CTO Justin Rattner caught the attention of the Agenda Setters panel for keeping innovation alive at the chip giant.

As head of Intel's microprocessor, communications and systems technology labs, Rattner oversees the developments that keep Intel on the cutting edge.

A notable achievement this year is Intel's low-power Atom family of chips, which run on between two and four watts of electricity.

Rattner is also known for being something of a technology visionary who is not afraid to predict the future of the computing world.

The Intel lifer recently used an Intel Developer Forum keynote to expound his belief in the singularity - a theory that the time when computer intelligence exceeds human intelligence is reachable within the next 40 years.

It's this sort of out-of-the-box thinking - and a willingness to go beyond the basic 'speeds and feeds' that preoccupy so many chipmakers - which earns Rattner a top 20 spot on the list.
