If you're wondering where you heard the name Sabeer Bhatia before, think internet stalwart Hotmail: Bhatia founded the webmail company back in the mid-1990s.

He's not been resting on his laurels since selling Hotmail to Microsoft, though, and has been involved in a series of software projects since then, including an online documents suite called Live Documents and a free web conferencing service, Sabsebolo - making Bhatia a tech entrepreneur to watch.

Bhatia chiefly earns his place on the Agenda Setters list for his involvement with Nanocity, a project to build a green city in the foothills of the Himalayas that will rely on renewable energy for half its power demands; come equipped to convert wastewater into drinking water; and recycle at least 70 per cent of its waste.

Bhatia's vision is an ambitious one, and proves just how quickly green concerns have entered the mainstream. Nanocity, and other projects like it, are likely to be pushing the clean tech agenda for years to come.
