No. 20 S Ramadorai, CEO, Tata Consulting Services

Last year's position: Not placed
When it comes to the homegrown Indian offshore IT service providers, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) leads the pack, having passed the billion-dollar revenue mark last summer almost a year ahead of its closest rivals Infosys and Wipro. S Ramadorai is a new entry on the Agenda Setters list this year, chosen for the increasingly influential role offshore IT companies are playing in the tech industry.
Ramadorai is the man who has led TCS to the top spot since he took over as CEO in 1996 - after starting at the company as a junior engineer - and this year pushed ahead with an IPO on the Indian Stock Exchange that raised $1.17bn despite choppy financial waters for the rest of the market.
Offshore outsourcing continues to climb up the IT agenda and, when looking beyond the traditional western IT service providers, TCS is the company to watch.
Industry observers predict the Indian companies will soon start to look at Europe for acquisitions and we wouldn't bet against TCS being the first to make a deal as Ramadorai's stated vision is to make TCS a top ten global IT company by 2010.
