It's a debut entry on the Agenda Setters list for N R Narayana Murthy, who co-founded Indian IT company Infosys with six other IT professionals in 1981, and served as its CEO for some 20 years before handing the reins over to Nandan Nilekani in 2002 to take on the role of chairman and chief mentor.Under Murthy's guidance Infosys has continued to be one of the biggest success stories in the Indian IT industry along with rivals TCS and Wipro.
With Infosys' day-to-day operations handled by CEO Nilekani, Murthy is able to spend time on a number of bodies and has considerable influence on the Indian IT industry and the wider Indian business and political community. Because of this, he will have a key role in the country's development as a location for IT services.
