No. 43 Jeff Bezos, chairman and CEO, Amazon.com
Last year's position: 21
Why? Still the king of ecommerce
It seems Jeff Bezos has been in and out of fashion like flared trousers in recent years but the fact remains he has staying power. This is his sixth year on the list - he's one of the few names in all of tech who's been so consistent - albeit at his lowest ever placing.
The Agenda Setters panel believes Amazon remains relevant in shaping the way businesses target online audiences and push the evolution of ecommerce. However, the clamour around web 2.0 means a business as inextricably linked to web 1.0 as Amazon may struggle to win hearts and minds, even if sales and revenue continue to grow.
But the fight's not over and Bezos brings a remarkable level of wisdom and experience compared to some of his rivals in the online world.
Take a walk down memory lane - and find out who made the Agenda Setters poll over the years:
"Ray Ozzie is a radical change force for Microsoft. He is moving them in a very different direction."
--Richard Sykes, Agenda Setters panellist
"My observation is that [kids today] are far more networked and open than any other generation we have ever seen."
--Peter Cochrane, Agenda Setters panellist
