No. 20 Dave Winer, creator of RSS
Last year's position: Not placed
Why? Shaking up syndication
Software developer Dave Winer charges onto the top half of the Agenda Setters list for being the man behind RSS feed technology.
His web aggregation tool, called my.userland.com, enables users to view multiple blogs via one browser window, known as Really Simply Syndication, or RSS.
RSS is now one of the fastest growing ways for people to access and distribute information on the internet, changing the way we consume and publish media.
One Agenda Setters panellist called RSS "a great tool that will change the way people work".
A career techie, Winer has also created content management systems which paved the way for a number of blogging tools in use today. The panel expects RSS won't be the last innovation we see from him.
Take a walk down memory lane - and find out who made the Agenda Setters poll over the years:
"Ray Ozzie is a radical change force for Microsoft. He is moving them in a very different direction."
--Richard Sykes, Agenda Setters panellist
"My observation is that [kids today] are far more networked and open than any other generation we have ever seen."
--Peter Cochrane, Agenda Setters panellist
