No. 29 Matt Bross, CTO, BT
Last year's position: Not placed
Why? He's the 21st Century Network boy
Bold moves might not be traditionally associated with BT but its 21 Century Network (21CN) - the telco's switch to an all-IP backbone - is certainly that.
Matt Bross wins his Agenda Setting badge of honour for leading the way with the 21CN. Everyone from pundits and rivals to consumers and corporate customers are eyeing the telco as it builds the pioneering network. And so far the rollout appears to be going to schedule and better than many expected.
While BT may not always be leading the pack, it still exerts considerable influence based on its sheer size alone. This year, BT's CEO Ben Verwaayen didn't make the list but his CTO did, showing that the Agenda Setters panel believes BT's innovation is coming from the techies not the suits.
Take a walk down memory lane - and find out who made the Agenda Setters poll over the years:
"Ray Ozzie is a radical change force for Microsoft. He is moving them in a very different direction."
--Richard Sykes, Agenda Setters panellist
"My observation is that [kids today] are far more networked and open than any other generation we have ever seen."
--Peter Cochrane, Agenda Setters panellist
