No. 12 George Polk, CEO, The Cloud

Last year's position: 16

Why? Leading the wi-fi revolution

George Polk makes his second appearance on the Agenda Setters list for his efforts in creating ubiquitous wi-fi coverage.

Since last year Polk has scored some noticeable wins, including the ambitious plans to blanket the whole City of London with wireless access and a similar project around eight UK cities.

The company has also come across a clever way to stoke consumer interest in public wi-fi - like the mobile operators before him, Polk is hacking away at prices in return for long-term subscriptions.

The increasing maturity of the ubiquitous wi-fi business model has done Polk no harm but he also makes the list as a symbol of the growing interest in wi-fi by consumers and telcos alike. According to one Agenda Setters panellist: "He's pushing the boundary and he's making people like BT change."
