No. 44 Paul Otellini, CEO, Intel
Last year's position: 25
Why? Chipping away in a tough market
It's a slide down the Agenda Setters rankings for Paul Otellini, who became Intel's fifth CEO in May last year, replacing Craig Barrett. He's now a 30-plus years' veteran of the chip giant, joining in 1974 and becoming Intel's president and COO in 2002.
Otellini gets the nod for driving innovation at a tech behemoth - not always the easiest task to pull off. This year the company launched its new Core and Core 2 chip architectures which have been widely acclaimed as the its best ever.
At the same time Intel has revealed plans to cut more than 10,000 jobs as competition with AMD continues to bite. In the end, though, the Agenda Setters panel praised Otellini's willingness to take the risks necessary to bring about technological advancement.
Take a walk down memory lane - and find out who made the Agenda Setters poll over the years:
"Ray Ozzie is a radical change force for Microsoft. He is moving them in a very different direction."
--Richard Sykes, Agenda Setters panellist
"My observation is that [kids today] are far more networked and open than any other generation we have ever seen."
--Peter Cochrane, Agenda Setters panellist
