No. 17 Jim Ginsburgh, VP enterprise architecture, BP
Last year's position: Not placed
Why? Allowing staff to handle their own IT support
Jim Ginsburgh was chosen by the Agenda Setters panel for leading the 'digital consumer' movement inside BP for the past four years.
It all started when he noticed he was getting a better computing experience at home than at work and realised the importance of making it easier for staff to bring their home PC experience into the office.
This led to the ground-breaking 'digital allowance' scheme whereby select BP employees are given a set amount of money to take care of their own computing needs in exchange for not using the company's IT service and support teams.
The results have been more freedom and higher satisfaction levels for the staff involved in the scheme. And now other companies are following suit.
As one Agenda Setters panellist said: "It's a great liberation thing, and he's the man who put it all together. And it works."
Take a walk down memory lane - and find out who made the Agenda Setters poll over the years:
"Ray Ozzie is a radical change force for Microsoft. He is moving them in a very different direction."
--Richard Sykes, Agenda Setters panellist
"My observation is that [kids today] are far more networked and open than any other generation we have ever seen."
--Peter Cochrane, Agenda Setters panellist
