Why? Securing the network

Security remains a major issue for enterprises but as opposed to previous years, when hackers and organised crime were seen as Agenda Setters, this year the panel decided it was the technology within corporate networks that is now setting the agenda by keeping the hackers out.

For this reason Marc Willebeek-LeMair won a spot on the list. An expert in networking and security, with several patents and published articles to his name, he started TippingPoint Technologies - a pioneer in intrusion detection and prevention systems which was bought by 3Com two years ago.

Now at 3Com he's in charge of unifying the networking company's many disparate pieces into one coherent whole.

To this he's bringing an increased focus on security, said the panel, a move which will have a major impact on the company.

Outside 3Com's four walls Willebeek-LeMair also trumpets the idea of secure networking at conferences around the world.
