Nigel Underwood

Name: Nigel Underwood

Title: CIO

Company: DHL Logistics

What they say about him: "A big man with a big presence, who has made a big contribution to Exel and DHL."

Nigel Underwood became CIO of DHL Logistics in 2005, following the company's £3.7bn acquisition of Exel, where he had been CIO and a member of the executive board since 2001.

At DHL one of his main tasks is the IT integration following that acquisition, which is expected to take around three years in total.

Integration was one of Underwood's big achievements at Exel where he embarked on an aggressive cost-cutting consolidation and global supply-chain programme following Exel's £328m acquisition of logistics company Tibbett & Britten.

A graduate of Nottingham University, Underwood spent his early IT career in the fast-moving consumer goods industry with big brands including Boots, Mars and Coca-Cola Schweppes. Prior to Exel he was senior VP for IT at Hilton Group.

Away from the day job, Underwood is a passionate supporter and associate director of Coca-Cola League football club Lincoln City.
