Name: Darrell Stein
Title: IT director
Company: Marks & Spencer
A rising young star in his field, the 39-year-old Darrell Stein landed the role of IT director at the famous UK high-street retailer Marks & Spencer in the summer of 2006 - something of a return to his roots as Stein originally started out his IT career at M&S back in 1990.
Stein's 16-year IT career has covered a wide variety of roles and experience, starting when he left M&S in 1994 to work as a project manager on data warehousing and financial systems for Mars.
He then spent five years at Ernst & Young where he led a number of major IT and change programmes in the financial services, retail and utility sectors.
In 2001 Stein joined mobile operator Vodafone where he was UK IT director before coming full circle back to take the top IT job at M&S.
