Name: John Thorp

John Thorp joined FTSE100 consumer electronics retailer DSG International (formerly known as the Dixons Stores Group) in May 2006 and has already made a striking impression, being appointed to the group executive committee in January of this year.

Thorp has a wide variety of experience in senior management and IT roles, specialising for several years in mergers and acquisitions. Prior to DSG he was IT director at no-frills airline easyJet and before that he was group IS director at Compass Group and IT director at the Burton Group.

His career has taken him around the world via stints in Europe, North America, Brazil and Australia.

Thorp has a master's degree from Cranfield University, where he is a visiting lecturer, and he is also a non-executive member of the Bedford Hospital NHS Trust.
