Paul Greenwood CIO50 2008

Former analyst Paul Greenwood is CIO of Clifford Chance, the world's largest law firm - which has some 3,900 legal advisors working from 27 offices in 20 countries.

Greenwood joined Clifford Chance in April 2000 as international director of knowledge and information, responsible for client-facing technology. Two years later responsibility for internal tech also landed on his desk.

Over the last six years, Greenwood has worked to standardise Clifford Chance's technology base across its global footprint and to consolidate operations into six regional hubs and an in-house global service centre in India. As well as internal and client-facing technology, he is responsible for the firm's knowledge strategy and information management.

Before joining the law firm, Greenwood worked as a research director at Research Associates. He also worked at strategy consultancy McKinsey & Company, where he was responsible for research, information and knowledge management in the UK and had a team of 100 analysts, researchers and developers. Greenwood was also part of the team that established McKinsey's Knowledge Centre in India in 1998.
