Simon Post

Name: Simon Post

Title: CTO

Position: 9

Company: The Carphone Warehouse

Technology plays an increasingly critical role for mobile phone retailer The Carphone Warehouse as the business moves into the wireless world, and Simon Post has been responsible for successfully steering IT through a two-year period of transformation that turned it into a more flexible and innovative department that can match the ambitious growth plans of the FTSE100 business.

One big development in the last year was the signing of a $200m deal with Indian IT company Patni for application development and maintenance - delivering key cost savings and flexibility of tech resources.

Post's consulting background has exposed him to a huge variety of different industries and large, challenging roles. Prior to The Carphone Warehouse, Post made his name at Rupert Murdoch's BSkyB as group IT and strategy director, where he was responsible for a complete organisational and process transformation and an update to much of the core IT infrastructure.

His early career included a spell in consulting and he was a partner at Arthur Andersen responsible for running its global ebusiness and advanced technology teams. Following that Post worked at Stanford Research Institute spin-off Atomic Tangerine in commercialising technology intellectual property from companies and research laboratories.

Married with four children, Post says he keeps the kids challenged with the large number of gadgets to be found in and around his house.
