David Tidey moved to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in the mid-1980s, and since then he has undertaken both IT and non-IT roles. He is currently assistant chief executive of business change with responsibility for IT and the borough's customer services transformation programme.
This has seen Tidey expand the corporate contact centre, introduce CRM and encourage greater use of internet for customer interactions. He says he is keen "to make the best use of technology to serve the residents" of the area.
Tidey graduated from the University of Exeter in physics and chemistry in 1982 from where he went to work for Greater London Council as a management trainee. It was during this time he first became involved in the tech side of business.
A member of the local government technology body Socitm, Tidey has been a British Computer Society member for 15 years, sits on the BCS Professionalism Board, and chairs the BCS Elite group.
