David Williams CIO50 2009

Since joining Confused.com in 2007 David Williams has completed a major rationalisation of its technology, standardising on Microsoft .NET platform.

As IT director his role involves continuing to introduce new technology to Confused.com to help it launch new products.

Before joining Confused.com Williams worked in the airline industry, most recently Jet2.com where he built an online reservation system, and before that at Flybe.

At Flybe he built a back office system that allowed the company to sell online, helping to transform the business from a traditional airline reliant on travel agents to a low-fares carrier.

Prior to that Williams worked for the NHS in Gwent, South Wales, at first dealing with patient administration but moving on to handle IT at a range of clinical departments before taking the helm of the entire IT department. He has also spent time working with some of the banks and large financial institutions.

Williams is a family man with three children and was born and raised in Cardiff, and started his career at the University of Wales.
