Glyn Evans CIO50 2009

Glyn Evans has helped save costs and increase efficiency at Birmingham City Council by spearheading a business transformation programme.

After joining as director of business solutions and IT in 2003, Evans led the creation of a joint venture company with Capita aimed at reducing the cost of IT operations and driving up staff productivity by 15 per cent.

Evans' current role is as corporate director of business change, where he is responsible for ensuring that business transformation is implemented across the council.

Before joining Birmingham City Council, Evans worked as head of e-services for the London Borough of Camden following a period serving as head of ICT for the Knowsley Metropolitan Borough.

With 27 years' experience of local authority IT support under his belt, Evans chairs Socitm Futures and is a member of the CIO Council and the Local Government Delivery Council.
