Steve Chambers CIO50 2009

This is the second year running in the CIO50 list for Steve Chambers, who is responsible for Visa Europe's processing business - which includes regional datacentres and business operations, enterprise architecture, technology and systems build, all change management, and Visa Europe's processing centre of excellence.

Chambers joined Visa in 2005 and managed the delivery of the Visa Europe authorisation service in 2006 as the first step in the creation of a European payments platform.

He has worked on the supplier side in the payments sectors for most of his career and has developed skills in IT, marketing and sales along the way.

Before joining Visa back in 2004, Chambers worked for financial markets association ACI - where he was vice president - and financial tech company First Data Resources as head of information technology, as well as EDS.
