Global investment bank Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe (SMBCE) has signed a deal to gain a secure LAN at its new London HQ.
The £1.6m deal with Orange Business Services will see the installation of the network in the bank's new Temple Court offices in the Square Mile.
The bank hopes the network will offer long-term cost savings and an improved computer service for its employees. The LAN platform also has the capability to support new applications that could be added in the future.

A SMBCE spokesman said the bank is aiming to expand its customer base and has the key objectives to provide more customer-focused products and services.
In a statement, he said: "The LAN provided by Orange Business Services will help us achieve these as a secure, cost-effective network will allow our staff to stay connected at all times."
The bank and 700 of its employees is due to move in the new year, with the network being rolled out during the first quarter of 2007.
Sumitomo Mitsui hit the headlines last year, when it avoided what would have been the world's largest bank robbery. The plot involved the use of spyware to relay passwords and access information to steal £220m from the London office. The plot was foiled by the UK's National Hi-Tech Crime Unit.
