TfL shelves Oyster payment plans

TfL's grand plans for Oyster card 'e-wallets' have been put on hold because the company has been unable to establish a link with a financial partner or bank "without too much cost and risk". TfL still hopes to deliver on the plan, which would enable commuters to use their smartcards to pay for low-cost items such as drinks and newspapers, at some indefinable time in the future.
