All eyes: Universal added to BT Vision roster

This time it's music video...

BT has struck a deal with Universal Music Group for music videos to be made available on demand via the BT Vision television service.

Customers will be able to pay for individual videos, playlists and even full concerts, to be viewed at their convenience.

Individual music videos will be available for £0.29 while on-demand concerts will cost £2.99.

This follows similar agreements with Warner Music Group and Sony BMG, while other entertainment groups such as Channel 4, Disney and Dreamworks have also been signed up.

BT Vision was launched last December and currently has around 4,000 customers - which is "in line with expectations", according to a BT Vision spokesman.

The spokesman added the company is aiming to increase the number of customers to six-figures by the end of the year, following increased marketing activity and the addition of several interactive services.

The service works through a set-top box which shows digital terrestrial channels as well as on-demand content via a broadband connection. Customers pay £90 for installation and are also required to sign a new 12-month BT contract for broadband.

Video content will also be available for download to Windows devices from the BT Vision Download Store.

BT said content from Universal will be available within the next few weeks.
