Dunelm Mill signs Epos maintenance deal

Value home furnishings retailer Dunelm Mill has signed an electronic point of sale maintenance contract to support its store portfolio expansion and drive sales.

The retailer has signed up Vista Retail Support to maintain its estate of around 720 tills across 90 stores and to take responsibility for new till installations as it expands to 150 stores over the next few years.

According to Dunelm Mill head of IT Dave Wilson, the retailer replaced its existing till hardware last year and upgraded to the latest version of Java-based software. The tills' chip and PIN systems have also been replaced recently.

He told silicon.com: "We are hoping that the maintenance contract will result in less calls to the service desk. So far we've seen a reduction in outstanding calls to be dealt with reduced from up to 30 a month to none.

"As a result, we hope to see increased sales and customer satisfaction through reduced queues and increased footfall. There's nothing more frustrating for a customer than seeing an empty till when they have to queue to make a purchase."
